Kate Pushkareva is an artist and art teacher based in Dublin, Ireland. She is originally from the South of Russia, from Rostov-on-Don.
Dublin reminds me a lot about my birthplace – Rostov-on-Don. Both cities are ports and are renowned for their diversity. I grew up surrounded by a rich mix of cultures, where people came together as a unified community. What stands out the most, though, are the locals – Dubliners and Rostovites alike are vibrant, spirited, and full of life.
Kate graduated from the Academy of Architecture and Art in Rostov-on-Don and the Pedagogical University in Moscow with a qualification as an art teacher. At various times, her mentors and art teachers were such illustrious Russian painters as Vyacheslav Senko, Oleg Maiboroda, Vladimir Trunin, Mikhail Abramov, and Victoria Belokobylskaya. Lessons in their workshops guided her on her path to becoming an artist. Pushkareva embraced their emphasis on drawing and painting from life as the foundation for her personal artistic direction.
Beginning in 2014, Kate embarked on painting expeditions to the Russian villages of Puhlyakovka and Veshenskaya. Exploring these unfamiliar landscapes, often on foot, she immersed herself in the intricate geometry of the land and sky. Rather than striving to depict an idealized view, her focus was on pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression.
A painter is not just someone who creates beautiful pictures. He is not merely a craftsman. He infuses his art with his own philosophy. He is someone who has a profound impact on the world. He holds great power. But you would never express it this way, because it’s very subtle. It's like an internal letter that you need to know how to read properly.
Color plays a major role in all her works. She is searching for herself in the artistic direction of subjective realism. Most often, she resorts to decorative stylization. Kate Pushkareva has developed her own personal technique, which enables her to capture the mood and atmosphere of her subject as quickly as possible.
Kate’s artworks have been exhibited in both Russia and Ireland. She recently won a Bronze Prize Award at Art in the Open (Wexford 2024), the largest plein air festival in Europe, and has consistently been a winner in various local Irish plein air festivals.

Kate Pushkareva has been teaching arts and crafts since 2016. She began as an art teacher in the preparatory group of a children's art school. Additionally, she has experience working with beginners and leisure painters, instructing them in the quick, wet-on-wet oil painting technique. Kate gives lessons to anyone who wishes to paint but doesn't know how to get started.
I am happy that my workshops bring a sense of joy and community to people. Art gives meaning to our lives and helps us understand the world.
